Collection
The Children’s department has a large collection of materials for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers through approximately grade 6. Our multimedia collection gives children the opportunity to grow and explore the world around them. Much of the material on the shelves is available to check out and enjoy. The children’s collection includes:

Reference Materials
General and specialized encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, and research databases, especially designed for children, are available. Reference material cannot be borrowed, but you may make copies of any information you need. Ask at the desk if you need help. Have a question you need help with? Email: reference@florhamparklib.org.
Computer Workstations
Four workstations with the library catalog, Internet, and Research databases are available in the Children's department. There are also two special game computers, not hooked up to the internet. The Children's computers are not accessible to a printer. Children are free to use the computers while abiding by the library's policies including the Unattended Children Policy and the Internet Access Policy.

Homework Help
The library offers research databases geared towards kids which can be searched by simply selecting one and then entering your 13-digit library card number. Those that can be accessed from home and the library include:
- Ebscohost – This database includes:
- Primary Search- Find articles from more than 60 of your favorite magazines like Ranger Rick, National Geographic for Kids, Highlights for Children and more.
- Middle Search Plus - Find articles from more than 150 popular magazines for middle school research as well as biographies, pictures of maps, flags, and photos.
- Ebsco Animals-Learn about the nature and habitat of animals in this online encyclopedia.
- Searchasaurus-Find magazine articles that are perfect for your topic. Type in what you’re looking for or choose the dinosaur on your topic.
- Facts on File - Find information about history, language and literature, science, and current events. There’s also a world atlas with up to date facts and color maps of countries and states.
From the library (no home access), go to the online resources page and try these:
- Britannica Online – search this online encyclopedia.
- Webfeet- Find descriptions of web sites by subject that have been selected by librarians, educators, and subject-area specialists, for their quality, credibility, and usefulness.

- New Jersey History Kids - Provides short video segments, questions and activities to guide kids through 11 N.J. historical sites. Also includes teacher resources.
- U.S. Government Kids Portal - Websites for Grades K-5 on topics such as Science, Arts, Computers, and Fun Stuff.
- Factmonster- Browse this site by topic to find great information on all your school subjects or use reference materials like almanacs, atlases and dictionaries.
- Internet Public Library - Find information on sports, computers, health and nutrition as well as reading recommendations and author’s pages.
- Great Websites for Kids - Over 700 sites compiled by the Association of Library Service to Children. Includes children’s book awards, art, music and current events.
- Morris County Library Children’s Sites - Links to New Jersey information, science, museums, and reading lists.

- Ask for kids- This site, formerly “Ask Jeeves” allows you to ask questions to perform fast and easy kid-friendly searches.
- Kidsclick -Annotated searchable directory of websites created for kids by librarians.

- ALA Resources - online safety resources for kids and parents.

- PBS kids - Features all your favorite characters and over 100 games.
- Weekly Reader- Includes games, contests and other activities.
- Sports Illustrated for Kids- Features current sports articles, jokes and games.
- Nick Junior - Find games with Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues, and more.
- Sesame Workshop - Includes stories, music, and art for kids and parents.
- National Geographic Kids - focuses on different animals and places.
